I am a Belfast-based journalist who has previously lived in London, Liverpool, and Toronto. My lifelong passion for writing and desire for understanding and knowledge led me to study history at Queen Mary University London. I then moved on to complete a post-graduate certificate at Birkbeck, University of London.
I got my start in journalism writing music reviews and interviewing artists before doing an internship at Grazia magazine. I then landed my first paid job writing for Contactmusic.com. Here I would, not only have to write stories based on the biggest entertainment news of the day, but also come up with ideas and headlines.
I then moved to MailOnline’s Snapchat desk working as a sub-editor. Whist I learnt a lot a their London office I didn’t find the job creatively fulfilling and moved on after a year of working there and graduating into a full-time role.
In 2018 I joined Digital Spy as a news reporter, covering everything from TV to films and soaps. It was at Digital Spy that I also got to write about my lifelong passion – pro wrestling. I contributed news stories along with interview and features to their WWE and AEW sections. Through this I was able to set up my own YouTube channel where I shared videos of my interviews along with making other wrestling-related content.
My pro wrestling writing and interviewing led me to guest spots on TalkSport as well as a weekly show on WrestleTalk and eventually working for Revolution Pro Wrestling doing backstage interviews and segments in front of a live crowd. I’ve also been a guest on numerous wrestling podcasts.
I eventually set up my own Substack to write about the issues in wrestling that are important to me, especially regarding women in the industry.
Pro wrestling remains my specialist subject but I am most comfortable having a broad range of topics to write about from politics to music or fashion and social issues.
Currently I am a freelance journalist, preferring to work flexible hours as I am writing on my debut novel and have completed a first draft.
Outside of journalism I have experience doing presenting, interviewing and voiceover work.
